The path of least resistance is always the best path for giving. In our technological age where everything, including our money, is at our fingertips, allowing your donors to use ApplePay and GooglePay to make donations is a handy tool. Let’s dive into how we can do that.
Authenticating Your Domain
In order to use ApplePay on your Embedded Forms, you will need to first authenticate your domain with your Payment Provider. Navigate to Settings, then Payment Providers. Here, select your Payment Provider and follow the instructions onscreen for authenticating your domain.
- Select the green Download File button. This will begin to download the Apple Pay verification file required to enable it on your embedded form.
- Once the verification file is successfully downloaded, upload this file to your website in the location of the example URL above the download button, making sure to change “yourdomain” with your organization’s domain. This will upload the file in your website folder structure under the “ /.wellknown ” folder.
Note: This “ /.wellknown ” folder may not exist by default on your site. If using Wordpress, learn more about this file upload process here. If your organization is using Squarespace, you may need to use a plugin (for example POWR or Elfsight) to modify the source file.
Once completed, the URL provided (with your organization domain) will display the verification file or will start a download of the verification file.
Adding payment options to my Giving Form
Now that you’ve added ApplePay and GooglePay as providers in RaiseDonors, it’s time to add it to your forms!
First thing you need to do is navigate to the giving form that you want to add these mobile options to. Once on the giving form, find the payment block and select the block by clicking on it.
After clicking on the payments block, you’ll see all the ways you can accept payments. In order to enable ApplePay and GooglePay you will need to enable wallets. Once this is done, your form is ready to accept mobile pay!
If you want to see what these look like in action, you’ll need to look at the form on an Android or Apple device as GooglePay and ApplePay are only available on mobile devices.
