Note: Impact Updates are currently in beta. This means you must first enable it on the Early Access Programs page by toggling on the Donor Portal 2.0 before you can begin posting updates. Impact Updates are not visible in the legacy Portal. To learn how to enable the Donor Portal 2.0, check out this Support Article.
Impact Updates let your organization show donors what their giving made possible. Share Project milestones, stories of success, or other news directly in the Donor Portal 2.0, where donors see them on their Dashboard and the Impact page. Using Impact Updates can help donors feel connected to your mission and encourage them to keep giving.
You can post multiple Impact Updates. They display to donors in order of most recent, so your newest Update always appears first. Some examples of Impact Updates may include:
- Milestones: Thanks to your generosity, the Clean Water Project reached its goal of building 10 wells!
- Personalized thank-you: Hi {{DonorFirstName}}, your support helped us serve 2,000 meals this month.
- Time-sensitive news: A year-end matching-gift announcement set to expire on December 31.
- General news: A new program launch, shown to all donors.
Create an Impact Update
To create a new Impact Update in Raise:
- Navigate to the Impact Updates tab from the left-hand menu, and select +New Impact Update.
-
On the Update, add an Internal Name and Public Title. The Public Title is visible to donors as a subject line of your message.
- Choose a Project if this Update is related to a specific Project.
- If a Project is not selected, the Impact Update displays to all donors in the Donor Portal. If a Project is selected, only donors who gave towards the Project will see it. For example, a donor who gave only to Project A will not see Project B’s Update. To share the same update with multiple Projects, create a separate Impact Update for each Project.
- If the Update should unpublish automatically on a set date, add an Expiration Date.
- The Impact Update remains visible through the selected date and stops displaying at 12:00 a.m. on the following day, in the author’s time zone.
- Opt to include the Author Name to display the name of the user who created the Update.
- The author is the user who first created the Impact Update record, even if a different user publishes or edits it later.
- Draft the Body message. Personalize the copy with Merge Tags for {{DonorFirstName}}, {{DonorLastName}}, or {{DonorFullName}}.
- Add an Image, if relevant.
When you are ready to push the update to the Donor Portal 2.0, select Save and Publish, or choose to save this draft and publish at a later date.
To preview your published Update in the Donor Portal 2.0, use the Impersonate in Portal tool on a donor record.
To edit, unpublish, or delete an Impact Update, select the three dots next to the Update.
Any published changes appear to donors immediately.
