Now Your Terms can Have Conditions
Last fall, we added the ability to create custom fields and include them on your giving forms. But when it comes to customization, why stop there? What if you could define specific conditions so your custom fields only show to the right person at the right time?
Well, we’re so glad you asked. (You did, right?)
In this release we are proud to announce new conditional logic for custom fields!
Now, you can decide when custom fields will display—if at all.
For example, let’s say that you have a slew of Projects. A veritable plethora, if you will. (And if you won’t…um…please do?) It’s entirely possible that donors may struggle to find the exact Project they want to support. Especially in cases where field staff are raising their own support, this can be a challenge.
Enter conditional custom fields!
You can create the field you want, and then choose to make it conditional.
For “Conditional Source”, you would enter “project selection” because you want the custom field to show based upon the project the donor selected.
And then specify which Project selection should trigger displaying your new field.
Now, when a donor visits your giving form, they will see the regular Project selection field:
But, if they select, the “I can’t find the project I’m looking for” option, they will see an additional custom field to simply type in what they are looking for.
Conditional logic can help streamline the flow of your giving forms, only asking for more information when appropriate. And reducing friction in the donation process is always a plus!
Strike That, Reverse It
Let’s face it: at some point, we’ve all wished we could go back in time and fix a mistake. (Which, of course, Back to the Future proposes is doable. If you subscribe to the Avengers Endgame theory of time travel, then you’re out of luck.)
While we can’t really help with solving the mystery of time travel (at least, not yet), we can help with making changes in the Form & Page Builder!
Yes, we recently added the option to undo or redo any change in the builder. Just click on the icons in the upper right of the builder screen to undo your last edit or redo a change that you’ve undone. You can even toggle back and forth to your heart’s content in order to review a recent change.
This is just one more way the form editor has your back. Try it out!
Nerd Stuff, Part One - Flip the (Java)Script!
Yes, fair warning - these release notes are getting a little nerdier here. 🤓
Personalization is key when you are trying to build—and maintain—relationships with your donors. So we thought we’d make personalizing the donation experience a little easier. Now, you can set default values on your embedded forms by adding some custom Javascript. You can set default values to use for the donor name, email address, and set the gift amount of frequency.

BUT WAIT…THERE’S MORE!
Yes, more! Because you can also use JavaScript to override the form Segment or Project codes.
Now, of course, you may ask, “Can’t I already set the Segment or Project by using a custom URL parameter?” Because, of course, you can.
But using JavaScript means that you don’t have to rely on URLs being copied and pasted exactly, because the values you want to set will be in the form code itself.
Pretty cool, huh?
And lest we forget, we’ve also added the ability to define custom JavaScript for all of your giving pages at once. Just head to the Settings page and click to edit the Design settings. At the bottom of the page, you’ll be able to set your custom code.
If you want to learn more about working with JavaScript (and who doesn’t really?) then take a gander at this handy support article.
Nerd Stuff, Part Two - Say Hello to Our API
Yes, we’re keeping things nerdy here. But this is something to really nerd out about!
We are thrilled to announce our new public API! 🎉
Now, it’s possible to build custom integrations (with a little developer know-how) and have RaiseDonors play nicely with your other systems. Sometimes, connecting with your donors requires connecting your tech stack.
…And the Rest
This update also includes a number of other fixes, tweaks, minor modifications, and assorted nudges. Here’s a roundup of other items released over the last month:
- Upgrading from our legacy experience to the new RaiseDonors platform just got a little bit easier. If you are using the
fund-code
URL parameter to set Projects, now you can keep using the same parameter in our new experience. Old links floating around in donors’ inboxes? No problem! Donors can still direct their giving the way they like. - New integration setting! We’ve added a toggle option to show offline gifts from Virtuous in the donor portal. This way, donors can get a complete picture of their giving without having to manage multiple portals. Sure, sometimes multiple portals can be a good thing. But not always.
- Taking donations by phone can be challenging already. So we decided to make it a little easier, with an added field for Organization Name and a checkbox to denote when a donation is being made on behalf of an Organization. Because accurate tracking receipting are all part of improving donor retention!
- Have you ever listed to a playlist on shuffle and wished you could just set he first song BEFORE everything starts getting all mixed up? Well, we can’t control your music app of choice, but we can do something about how Projects are listed in the search dropdown list on your giving form. SO…we did! Now, you can set a Project as a “Pinned Project,” which is just a fancy way of saying it will always show at the top of your list.
- Since you can schedule an export from every other table view, we’ve added the scheduled export option to the Recurring Gifts table as well. No need to leave anyone out of the export party!
- In some cases, editing a Recurring Gift was not sending a notification email to team members. We’ve made sure the notifications will go out as expected from now on. As they should.
- Our team of digital exterminators squashed a bug that allowed some donors to bypass fields that were set as required on a giving form, like Address. Bypasses are good for vehicle traffic flow and can be lifesaving cardiovascular treatments but not so hot in a giving form.
- Some users reported an issue with changes to text colors in the Trust & FAQ Center not saving. We’ve made sure that you can now trust the Trust & FAQ center to behave appropriately.
And that's the list! Phew! As always, if you have any questions about these or other features, feel free to contact our support team.
