Did You Pack an Adapter?
Traveling abroad is great; you can see new cultures and experience the world. But it also means having to prepare for converting things like electricity—and money.
While we can’t help with your next vacation, we do have your donors covered, no matter where in the world they might be.
Yes, we are excited to be rolling out our new Presentment Currency functionality!

We…should probably explain a little more about what “presentment currency” means.
Now, your giving forms and pages will automatically detect when a page visitor is located somewhere outside the US. Since Raise gateways settle in US currency, when there is a difference between the gateway currency (US dollars) and a page visitor’s location, we will automatically display the local currency for your giving form instead.
Now, your donors abroad won’t have to do math in their heads to figure out what a $10 donation might mean in their native currency! (PHEW)
Keep in mind that while donors will be charged in their local currency, their gift will still settle in your payment provider’s currency (US dollars).
To reduce friction, we are doing our best to present your international donor with the currency we think makes sense for them, given their location and browser settings. However, in the instance we got their currency wrong, they will see a currency selector dropdown within the gift amount field, allowing them to make a change. (Note that your US-based donors will not see this currency dropdown, only international donors.)
Now, you may be wondering, “how does this work for my gift arrays?” (doesn’t everyone?)
Well, once we have identified a donor’s location, we set their corresponding currency and convert your gift array amounts into that currency. There is also some rounding involved. Since currency conversion often results in odd numbers, for most currencies we round to the nearest 5, so your gift array values are still the nice numbers ending in 0s and 5s, that you’d expect. Note that the rounding logic depends on the currency. For currencies like Japanese Yen, for example, we round to the nearest 1000.
How will the experience for you, a Virtuous Raise user, change? We’re making it much easier for you to see when a donor’s gift originated in a different currency. For these gifts, you will see that the gift amount is underlined with a dashed line. When you hover over the amount, you will see a tooltip which shows you the gift amount in the donor’s currency (the “native” amount) and the amount that it settled in (the “settled” amount).
You will also see currency conversion information in the gift detail view in Raise:
Now, if donors might be anywhere in the world, we couldn’t just stop at making currency a little friendlier, right?
Of course not!
Now, you’ll see a new country code option for phone numbers, too!
Just another way we’ve got you covered, no matter where your donors might be!
Notes: Have Them Your Way
In our last update, we added Stripe metadata to the Gift Notes field for anyone using the Raise integration with Virtuous CRM+. And it turns out, not everyone likes having a lot of giving metadata in their Gift Notes.
Well, we are pretty darn good listeners.
So now, we’ve introduced the option to turn those long notes off! From Integrations > VCRM Integration settings, there is now a toggle for turning off gift metadata added to the Notes field.
Going Postal via Email
We addressed a bug where the acknowledgee email field was only appearing if “allow postal acknowledgement” option was on. That made little to no sense, so we have fixed that!
And that's the latest! Phew! As always, if you have any questions about these or other features, feel free to contact our support team.
