Autodetect A Donor’s Currency
By default, Raise Giving Forms and Pages automatically detect when a page visitor is located somewhere outside the US (using the location and browser settings) and display their local currency for your Giving Form. Note: while donors will be presented with and charged in their local currency, their gift will still settle in the payment provider’s currency (US dollars).
Donors will also see a currency selector dropdown within the Gift Amount field, allowing them to make a change if Raise has detected the wrong country.
Once the transaction has processed, the donor will receive the email confirmation with Gift details including the currency they gave in.
Automatic Currency Conversion
When reviewing a Gift within Raise, the Gift Amount will display in your Base Currency with a dotted underline to signify this is a converted amount. Hover over the amount to see the Gift Amount in the donor’s currency (“Native”) and the amount that it settled in (“Settled”).
How Is Currency Conversion Calculated?
Raise will automatically convert the Gift Amount based on the exchange rate that matches the Gift Date for any Gift that is not in your organization's Default Currency. Default Currency refers to the currency set as your organization’s base currency in Settings under the Organization page.
Sync to CRM+
For organizations using CRM+, when a Gift with a different currency than your Default Currency comes through the Gift and Contact Import Tool, it will similarly display as the original Gift Amount, including the Currency Symbol and the Currency Code.
The Converted Amount will be available once the Import is completed.
Can I Disable Foreign Currency on My Form?
By default, all of your Pages and Forms will display the foreign currency selection dropdown and will attempt to present donors with their native currencies. You do, though, have the option to turn off International Currency Support to hide the dropdown and require the donor to give in the currency set as your Default.
To disable International Currency Support, navigate to the Settings of your Form or Page by selecting the gear icon. Here, find the International Support tab, and choose “Off” to prevent donations from international currencies.
